What’s the difference between Postman’s Private and Public API Network?

The Postman API Network has two parts: a public network and a private network.
  • The Postman Public API Network is open to the entire, global API community. Any API collections or templates you share here are available to everyone on the web.
  • The Postman Private API Network is for your team only. Any APIs you share here are available to your entire team. The Private API Network acts as a single source of truth for APIs between producers and consumers on your team.
You can find a more detailed comparison in this API Network blog post.

What is the difference between APIs and templates?

Templates are community-contributed workflows that help you explore new uses of popular APIs. The Postman Public API Network has more than 2,000 public APIs, and it also has more than 5,000 API templates that help you explore many different uses of those APIs.

Can a private API be shared with a vendor outside of my company?

No. Private APIs are private to your organization and can only be shared with users within your organization.

What’s the most compelling reason to post APIs on the Postman API Network?

The Postman API Network helps developers quickly discover, explore, and use your API. Through the network, your API can instantly reach a huge, global audience—Postman has more than 17 million users across 500,000 organizations all over the world.

How can I access Postman API Network from the app?

Click the orange New button at the top left of the app’s interface and then select the API Network tab.
