What is the Postman Academy?

The Postman Academy is an on-demand learning platform to gain skills for working with APIs and Postman. Users can track their own learning progress, complete learning activities and revisit content they have already learned. The learning platform can be accessed at https://academy.postman.com.

What information we collect from you

We collect data from users based on information explicitly provided by the user in the sign up form fields, as well as automatically collected data such as user progress through the lessons. Examples of data collected include but are not limited to:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email
  • Institution (company or school)
  • Lesson progress
  • Time spent in lessons
  • Quiz responses
  • Feedback on courses

This information may be shared with an observer if you are receiving an invite to the platform through them (for example, a professor inviting their students) such that the observer can monitor the progress of the learners registered to their invite.

How we use information collected from you

The data collected from students and educators when they fill out our forms is used strictly for these purposes:

  1. Monitor program health internally at Postman
  2. Share progress with an observer (if invited through an observer, such as your university professor)
  3. Send transactional emails directly relating to requested services of the learning platform
  4. Discover areas to improve our learning content

How we protect information collected from you

Data from the platform is managed by the platform provider Skilljar, which is accessible internally at Postman. You can learn more about Skilljar's data privacy policy here.

Who we share your information with

Your privacy is important to us. We do not sell or share your data with any third-parties, unless a registrant has signed up or opted in to a monitoring group by invite from an observer (such as a university professor), in which case said observer is able to monitor their own learners' course progress and sign-up data.

How to access and control your information

You have the right to know what data the Postman Academy has collected and stored about you, including whether your account falls under the monitoring of an observer.

To access and/or request changes to your data, you can make a request by filling out this form:

Request access or changes to personal data here

We will manually review your request within 1 month. Before fulfilling your request, we will send an email to the address submitted in the form to ensure you are the owner of the data in question.

If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact academy@postman.com.
